A condo board is an arm of democracy and needs to operate using the democratic system. When a board becomes autocratic or dictatorial it will inevitably lead to a neglected building. If the board is not accountable to its owners and doesn't understand its roles and responsibilities then the entire corporation fails. A condo board is developed to serve its owners and work together with the owners in a balanced and fair manner to create a successful community and strong successful corporation.





Condo Boards and Property Management Companies

Condo boards are volunteers and therefore don't think they have any accountability to their owners but they do and if a member of a condo board isn't listening to the owners then that condo member needs to step aside and allow another member to do the work and serve the owners and the corporation. There is no excuse for a building to become neglected because the board only meets once a month and doesn't have time to look after the building. Why would anyone invest in a condo building and allow a small group of owners to manage and govern your investment without any accountability? This is what we have defined as bad boards and bad boards ruin a building because they are not experienced enough to understand their roles and responsibilities. A bad board doesn't find good solutions and settles on special assessments, a bad board neglects the building, a bad board doesn't review the property manager's decisions and waits for the property manager to introduce solutions or ideas and becomes a rubber stamp. A bad board is bad for your investment..
